In previous years the International Summer School for Grid Computing (ISSGC) has been oversubscribed. Considering that the International Winter School provides a fairly restricted number of places, high numbers of applicants are expected. Selection for the Winter School is therefore competitive, based on the information supplied on the application form and by a referee's supporting letter. In order to fully benefit from attending the School, applicants are expected to attend live chats and complete exercises.

We expect to accept between 25 and 30 students. We will be looking for students with commitment and enthusiasm for Grid research and development. We will expect competence and experience in some aspects of software development, distributed systems, computational systems, data systems and Grid applications.

Most students will establish their credentials from academic qualifications, but some will be based on experience.

We also welcome, in particular, participant educators who are planning to teach Grid computing.
