:: Admissions

In all previous years the International Summer School for Grid Computing (ISSGC) has been oversubscribed. Considering that International Winter School provides a fairly restricted number of places, high numbers of applicants are expected. Selection for the Winter School is therefore competitive, based on the information supplied on the application form and by a referee's supporting letter. In order to fully benefit from attending the School, all applicants have to prove the prior knowledge and skills in certain areas by completing a set of Prerequisite Exercises. Participants who fail to complete the prerequisite exercises will not be allowed to progress to the Winter School.

We expect to accept between 25 and 30 students. We will be looking for students with commitment and enthusiasm for Grid research and development. We will expect competence and experience in some aspects of software development, distributed systems, computational systems, data systems and Grid applications.

Most students will establish their credentials from academic qualifications, but some will base this on experience.

We also welcome as participants educators who are planning to teach Grid computing.

The applications should be supported by a reference letter from an academic supervisor, project leader or similarly senior person.

Applications are made online. The application e-form is now available.
