To Stockholm

By Plane

You can fly to four different airports in Stockholm. The main airport is Arlanda, but depending on your provenance, you might want to fly to the Bromma airport, Skavsta airport (cheap airlines), or Västerås airport.

Some directions from the airports to Stockholm city centre:

From Arlanda airport (information given by the airport can be found here)

  • By bus: to Central Station or City Terminal (40-45 min, 95 SEK)
  • By train: Arlanda Express to Central Station (20 min, cost for a single ticket 200 SEK)
  • By taxi: fixed price, same price for one to four persons (400-445 SEK from the airport, 400-475 SEK to the airport)

From Bromma airport (information given by the airport can be found here)

  • By bus: the airport bus to and from Bromma airport connects with flight arrivals and departures (approx. 15 min to the City Terminal, single ticket 60 SEK, return ticket 100 SEK)

  • By bus: Airport coaches operate to and from Stockholm

  • By train: the local train station in Nyköping is 7 km away.
    • take a taxi for a fixed price of 140 SEK
    • Or take the local bus No 715 (approximately 20 SEK to/from the train station). For information and timetable for the bus service please contact Länstrafiken or call +46 (0)771-22 40 00.
  • By taxi: approximately 1300 SEK

The journey should take approximately 60 minutes.

From Västerås airport (information given by the airport can be found here)

  • By airport bus (Ryanair)
  • There are regular Ryanair buses for the route Västerås Airport - Stockholm City terminal
  • By train: from the airport you can take a local bus (No 941) or a taxi (approx. 150 SEK) to go to the train station

There are train connections to Stockholm every hour. The journey takes about one hour.

By Bus

Eurolines buses go to Stockholm from various European cities.

From Stockholm City Centre to the Summer School venue, Mariefred



The Summer School venue is situated next to the town centre of Mariefred, in Gripsholm, and is called Gripsholmsviken. It used to be called Röda Korset (Swedish Red Cross).

By public transport

Once you are in Stockholm, you first need to take a train from Stockholm Central Station to Läggesta Station, which is the closest train station to the Summer School venue. Läggesta Station is situated about 1km from the venue. From Läggesta Station, you can walk or take a bus, depending on the timetables.
  1. By Train to Läggesta (Stockholm to Eskilstuna Line)

    The venue is approximately 1 kilometre away from Läggesta train station.

    From Stockholm Central Station, you can take a train to Läggesta Station. Look for the train to Eskilstuna and make sure it stops at Läggesta.

    The journey takes a little bit less than 40 minutes.

  2. Bus to Gripsholm

    From Läggesta train station you can take the bus (service 303) and get off at the Gripsholm stop.

Further information will be provided nearer the time if there are alternative arranged means of transportation.

By Taxi

The venue is situated approx. 70 km from Stockholm, which is about an hour trip by car depending on traffic. It costs about 1000 SEK from Stockholm Central Station.

From Arlanda Airport to the Summer School venue by taxi

The venue is situated approx.100 km from Arlanda airport. Taking a taxi from the airport to the venue costs approx. 1700 SEK and takes about 1 hour 30 min.
